Himachal Pradesh: Every year on 11 November our whole Nation celebrates a National Educational Day on the birth anniversary of India's first Education Minister after Independence Abul Kalam Azad and National Education day was first celebrated in 2008. So from 11 November 2008 after the declaration made by The Ministry of Human Resource Development Every year on 11 November, we are celebrating the National Education Day for remembering the contribution made by Abul Kalam Azad in the Education System of Independent India.

Abul Kalam Azad was Commonly known as Maulana Azad and not only he was Education Minister but was also a Senior leader of Indian National Congress during the Indian Independence Movement and also a professional poetry composer and writer.

  • Birth Place: Makkah, Hejaz Vilayet, Ottoman Empire (Present dau Mecca, Saudi Arabia)
  • Born On: 11 November 1888 
  • Died On: 22 February 1958 at the age of 69 years old
  • Cause of Death: Stroke in Brain
  • Awards: Bharat Ratna in 1997


There is No holiday on National Education Day But it does not mean that we are not celebrating the day, In India Schools and other educational institutions mark the day with easy writing, seminars, rallies, workshop and spread the importance of literacy and remember the great contributions of Abul kalam Azad who lead the basic foundation of education System in bad period of Independent India.
